The Great Machine of the Cosmos:

When Lor created the universe and set it inside the great sphere of adamant and glass of the primie material, the planes that he created around it became what is known as the machine of the cosmos. Just above the Sphere of the Prime Material sits the disk of Alysium, the abode of the dead where the halls of judgment are presided over by the Malachim Imperiel. The disk of Alysium sits atop the four pillars of the elements to which the sphere of the prime material is chained. The four pillars rest on the plane of Hades, from which Mordin rules the underworld from his fortress of Tartarus within the caldera of the volcano Acheron. Below the plane of Hades rests the 666 layers of the Abyss and finally the eternal lake of fire. The plane of Hades and the layers of the Abyss are connected by the river styx.

The disk of Alysium is surrounded by the Rings of Atlas on which the Great Lamps turm which give Alysium day and night. Also upon the rings are the prison spheres that contain the Malachite captains who took part in the great rebellion against Lor before the breaking of Aon. In the center of Alysium are the halls of judgment, below which lies the Epoch Maelstrom, a churning whirlpool into which the condmned are cast. Above the halls the celestial stairway stretches up from Alysium to the lower levels of Elohim, the holy mountain on the top of which is the seven tiered city of Lor. Around Elohim is the crystal lake that eventually rains down on Alysium below.
